During the summer the little town of Coloma lays quietly in the Sierra Nevada Foothills for most of the week. The locals come and go, commuters pass by on their way to work in Sacramento, raft guides – taking advantage of a day off – do laundry and clean out their tents. It’s quaint and quiet. Friday afternoon, though, things change……
Rafters start arriving for their weekend trips. They bring family and friends and coolers filled with drinks and snacks. Remember those times when you’d set up the tent at the beach or campground, and the excitement of summer was palpable? The sounds of people playing in water, the smells of lanterns and of sleeping bags (after being stored in a closet for most of the year) being unrolled inside a tent. These are the things that accent childhoods, summers, life. These are the things that mark every weekend here!
Whitewater Connection’s campground is populated with people having these moments. At the beginning of every 2-day trip and every weekend, our guests are setting up home for the weekend, making new friends, perfecting their horse-shoe throwing skills!
