This is what experience looks like. Another New Zealander, this Maori girl has traveled, rafted and kayaked on more rivers that you can count. She was born in the Southern Alps in New Zealand and matured on the waterfalls of the Kaituna River. Shilo has been with Whitewater Connection since 2011 and continues to fascinate us all with her talent on and off the river. She can be heard singing every Saturday night in camp, guitar in hand, with a swarm of rafters in awe of her.
Sam comes to us all the way from Wolombi, Australia. He began rafting 8 years ago seeing it as a great opportunity to travel. Guiding rivers in Australia, New Zealand, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Uganda keep him pretty busy but Sam manages to squeeze in a little surfing and bike riding. Running rivers has become his passion and getting to do it for a living is even sweeter! Sam says he will give up his bad habits as soon as equally satisfying ones become available. ”The world is my oyster.……I’m allergic to oysters, but the world is a pretty awesome place!”
Trevor grew up Los Angeles California. Being 6’6 he is naturally a basketball player. As a Junior at Valley Christian High School Trevor won the CIF Southern section basketball title. He is now playing for Central College in Iowa and majoring in International Studies with a sociology and Spanish minor. Trevor has been rafting since he was 6 years old so it was only natural for him to become a river guide. He now spends his summers here in Coloma where he gets to practice what he studies with Whitewater Connection’s international quiver of guides!
