What to Bring For Your River Rafting Trip

Below are lists of the items necessary for your river adventure. All Items marked (For Sale) are available for purchase upon your arrival. See Rentals and Accessories for details. All Items marked (For Rent) are available for rental. Advanced reservations are advised. See Rentals for details.

One Day Rafting Trips

• Swim suit or shorts
• T-shirt (For Sale)
• Tennis shoes for on the river. No thongs or loose fitting slip-on shoes are allowed. We do not recommend strap-on sandals or soft-soled neoprene "water socks", although we do not forbid them

• Cap or visor (For Sale)
• Sun Glasses (For Sale)
• Strap for glasses or sun glasses (For Sale)
• Sun screen (For Sale)
• Change of clothes/dry shoes for the drive home
• Plastic trash bag for wet river clothes

• Sleeping bag
• Air mattress or foam pad (For Rent)
• Ground cloth or plastic sheet
• Tent (For Rent)
• Pillow

• Toiletries - toothbrush, toothpaste, biodegradable hand and hair soap, wash cloth, towel, shaving gear, deodorant comb or brush, sanitary napkins, etc.
• Insect repellent
• Plastic trash bag for wet river clothes
• Clean set of clothes for the drive home.

Optional

• Tent (For Rent) usually a safe precaution against rain during spring and fall, or for added privacy during any summer trip.
• Warm hat, gloves
• Fishing gear (valid CA fishing license required)

• Camera

• Spare glasses or contacts - just In case
• Musical Instrument - no radios or taped music please

If rain or cool weather is a possibility we recommend you bring the following attire:

• Wetsuit ("Farmer John" - without jacket) (For Rent)
• Wool (not cotton) shirt or sweater
• Windbreaker or rain jacket (For Rent)

• Wool socks or wet suit booties (For Rent)
• Wool cap
• Wool gloves

Special Notes

All eating utensils are provided by Whitewater Connection.

We recommend cool weather clothing (as a precaution) for the months of April and May on the South and Middle Forks of the American River and for all trips on the California Salmon, North Fork of the American, and Kaweah Rivers.
